After many years as a single parent finally completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. I am happy to say that this accomplishment inspired my children to continue their education as well. Currently, I have a successful high school math and computer science teacher and an aspiring Medical Anthropologist in my family with another child working toward a degree, also in the medical field.
My ability to continue to move forward and complete my Master’s Degree has continued to demonstrate my belief that nothing is too big to dream about and strive for if you really want it. I hope I bring a small part of this into my class each and every time I enter the room.
I have been a Medical Assistant for a very long time. On the clinical side of the house, I have worked in various specialty groups including urgent care and dermatology. I have also worked for a medical billing group and an insurance group. My diverse job history has made it easy for me to talk to students about most of the processes related to front and back office procedures.
My passion is in Psychology, primarily motivational Psychology. Why do people do what they do, make the choices they do and is there a way I can make them happier with those choices or guide them into a thought process that will inspire them to move into something that will make them feel complete.
In addition to my teaching, I am an active drilling Navy Reserve service member. In my spare time, I enjoy the outdoors kayaking, swimming, snorkeling, hiking, biking or simply watching the ocean and allowing it to calm and re-center me.
